How to write amounts in words
- Hyphenate the numbers from twenty-one to ninety-nine: twenty-one, forty-five, ninety-nine.
- British English puts “and” after the hundreds (one hundred and one); American English leaves it out (one hundred one).
- Write the cents after the main unit: “and fifty cents”. On cheques many people write them as a fraction instead: “and 50/100”.
- A billion is a thousand million, in American and in British English.
The amount in words, in every document, automatically
In Documentemplate the formula amountinwords(total) writes the total in words in every invoice, receipt or contract you generate. Design the template once: the figure and the words always match.
