Documentemplate MCP server

Connect Claude, Cursor or VS Code and create invoice, contract or report templates by describing them in your own words.

What you can do

Connect an AI assistant to your workspace and describe the document you need. It builds the template block by block, declares the variables, computes the totals and checks the result.

“Make me an invoice with a header, three line items with quantity and price, subtotal, VAT using the workspace constant, a total with the amount in words and a signature footer.”

Everything the assistant creates counts against your plan's quotas (templates, constants, variables and block types) and starts as a draft: nothing is published unless you ask.

Connect an assistant

It is an MCP server over HTTP (Streamable HTTP transport). Use this address and your token in the Authorization header; it works with any MCP client.

Server address
https://documentemplate.com/api/mcp

Claude Code

bash
claude mcp add --transport http documentemplate https://documentemplate.com/api/mcp \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer <YOUR_TOKEN>"

Cursor

In Cursor's configuration file (the global one or the project's).

~/.cursor/mcp.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "documentemplate": {
      "url": "https://documentemplate.com/api/mcp",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer <YOUR_TOKEN>" }
    }
  }
}

VS Code

In the project file; VS Code will ask whether you trust the server.

.vscode/mcp.json
{
  "servers": {
    "documentemplate": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://documentemplate.com/api/mcp",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer <YOUR_TOKEN>" }
    }
  }
}

Claude Desktop

Claude Desktop connects remote servers with headers through mcp-remote (needs Node).

claude_desktop_config.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "documentemplate": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "mcp-remote", "https://documentemplate.com/api/mcp", "--header", "Authorization: Bearer <YOUR_TOKEN>"]
    }
  }
}

Security

This token lets you create and change your account's templates and constants, not read your documents or your password, and it can't be used for the API or to sign in. Revoke it here if you share it by mistake or stop using the assistant. Don't paste it into chats or repositories.

Start in a minute

The MCP server is a Pro plan feature. Generate your token in the MCP section.
